Violet lips - Mac lipstick review

Have been looking for a violet colour after seeing the Tom ford violet blonde ad campaign and came across this Mac beauty called Up The Amp the other day!

This is the first Mac lipstick I have ever bought (yes really!) so was curious to see how it fared.

Well, the MD of my company told me my make up looked "fab" and asked what lippy it was. She then went out at lunch to buy it and had it on in the afternoon! Bonus promotion points to me!!!

Good times
Gorgeous violet shade, just right balance between pink and purple
Long lasting
Smooth formula that was easy to apply
Didn't crease into my lip lines or bleed

Bad times
I can't think of one! Any lippy that gets me noticed by the big boss must be a winner!

Yellow/blue eyes with pastel pink lips - Soap & glory mascara review

So I've seen the ads for the new soap & glory mu range and thought I must give it a go one day but then Elle magazine had a free thick & fast super volume mascara giveaway in this months issue! Woop!

Good times:
Chunky, jumbo brush coated my lashes super quick
Good separation, no clumping
Long lasting, black colour

Bad times:
Quite a dry consistency so bit hard to load the brush
Not especially volumnising!

I'm a massive fan of maybelline great lash so probably wouldn't go out my way to buy this one again, plus i like rimmel's scandaleyes mascara for some serious volume, however I'll happily use it now until it runs out- gotta love a freebie!

Pastel face- mint eyes pale pink lips

I use Illamasqua powder eyeshadow and lipstick but never the cream pigment until now!

Bedaub is a perfect mint green shade but every time I used it, it creased up badly and almost immediately. Rubbish!

Then the lovely twitter folk at illamasqua suggested using primer and powder eyeshadow first for adhesion. So I did just that and hey presto! Long lasting but did crease up by the end of the day.

Colour block eyes- MUA and Sugarpill reviews

Been feeling a bit under the weather and bright eyes cheer me up and hopefully detract from dry skin and chapped lips!

Purple
I used Sugarpill's poison plum pressed eyeshadow for the first time.

Beautifully matte and silky smooth to apply, it has distinct red undertones and actually stained my eyelids red once I'd removed it! Long lasting but more aubergine than pure purple.

Lime
Used MUA's shade 5 pearl for this- fab zesty lime that stated put all today but perhaps too much sheen for my liking.

Blue
Royal sugar loose eyeshadow comes in a fab, generously sized pot and has a vibrant, stunning blue colour. This is v sparkly and a lot of it ended up all over my face but the perfect royal blue colour made up for that! It also creased badly towards the end of the day but did retain the colour.

Pink
Barry m dazzle dust in 85 - love this stuff! Teamed with MUA lipstick in shade 2

Apricot eyes, pinky mauve lips

I decided to try out MUA's pretty pastels eyeshadow pallette and lipstick - well for £4 / £1 why not?!

I really wanted an apricot shade on my eyelids so went for the nude shade (top row, farthest left) as a base - it came out a sheeny white, so then I tried the apricot shade next to it and it also came out a sheeny white - urgh!!! So much sheen it looked a bit ridiculous so went it for a bit of pink (bottom row, second from right) and, you guessed it, that came out a sheeny white!!!

By this point I was desperate for some matte to tone down the sheen so packed on some illamasqua matte orange, sephora neutral and matte brown in the outside corners. And I ended up with a rather lovely apricot shade!

I need to try out the other shades in the MUA pretty pastels eyeshadow palette but first use was v disappointing! Way too much sheen, not enough colour!

Why oh why do make up retailers think pastels need to be shiny/sheeny? Am yet to find the perfect matte pastels...

The lippy however was a lovely, long lasting pinky mauve, the only downside was quite a strong fragrance.

Block yellow eyes- Sugarpill eyeshadow review

Have seen US brand Sugarpill everywhere at the mo so I decided to take a look. I've been looking for a matte, highly pigmented bright yellow for ages and *ta da!* I spot buttercupcake pressed eyeshadow.

I ordered online from Love Make Up and my package arrived two days later, v easy. So to the product...

Good times:
Fab packaging
Good size
Velvety texture
Strong pigment
Fabulous colour that drew loads of compliments!
Reasonabley priced at £7.99

Bad times:
Although I adore the colour it is quite 'egg yolk' on my skin tone rather than neon yellow so next time I'll pack on a lot more layers to try and build up the colour

I also got a couple more products (had to make the most of the £2.95 p+p!) so will review when I use them...
