Apricot eyes, pinky mauve lips

I decided to try out MUA's pretty pastels eyeshadow pallette and lipstick - well for £4 / £1 why not?!

I really wanted an apricot shade on my eyelids so went for the nude shade (top row, farthest left) as a base - it came out a sheeny white, so then I tried the apricot shade next to it and it also came out a sheeny white - urgh!!! So much sheen it looked a bit ridiculous so went it for a bit of pink (bottom row, second from right) and, you guessed it, that came out a sheeny white!!!

By this point I was desperate for some matte to tone down the sheen so packed on some illamasqua matte orange, sephora neutral and matte brown in the outside corners. And I ended up with a rather lovely apricot shade!

I need to try out the other shades in the MUA pretty pastels eyeshadow palette but first use was v disappointing! Way too much sheen, not enough colour!

Why oh why do make up retailers think pastels need to be shiny/sheeny? Am yet to find the perfect matte pastels...

The lippy however was a lovely, long lasting pinky mauve, the only downside was quite a strong fragrance.
